Rob likes to be busy, having control of four important areas of the bakery: confectionary, savoury, mixing and roll production. Between these, there's never much time to spare. Quality and efficiency are Rob's driving forces, and although it's a tough job, it's one he thoroughly enjoys. He gains a great deal of satisfaction seeing the best products being sent out freshly every day.
After 21 years with the business, Rob hasn't quite hit the big 40 – but it won't be long! Working his way up the business after starting as a Saturday boy in the hygiene department, Rob has worked in pretty well every department in the bakery, and if he doesn't know how to mix it, mould it or bake it, it's probably not worth making anyway!
Rob just about kept a straight face when he said his passions were listening to classical music and reading poetry! Rob nearly turned professional as a goal keeper, and has always loved playing football. He has reached the age where coaching is now the better option, and is kept very busy doing this for his son's Thornton le Dale under 11s team.
