Chris describes his job as 'varied' - this is probably fairly accurate! He gets to do all the jobs nobody else wants, and has tried most things over the years. In his 34 years with the company he has worked in the office, run the night shift, the hygiene department, raw materials stores, the list goes on.
Currently, Chris is responsible for sourcing and buying ingredients and raw materials. Today it might be two packets of fresh herbs from 'Herbs Unlimited', but it's just as likely to be negotiating on a container of Grade 'A' Turkish sultanas or 6 pallets of boxes for our award winning sweet mince pies. Chris also has responsibility for maintaining our food safety compliance systems, as well as product specifications, allergen and nutritional information. Chris is heavily involved in new product development, particularly with artisan breads and also organizes our charity and fund raising events.
Some people would describe him as keen on sport – this would be a massive understatement! If you can throw it, kick it, dive in it, jump over it, tackle it, run around it, drive it, bat it or ride it Chris will have all the stat's! For all you cricket fans, his email address is '203notout', I think you get the idea!
Chris likes to keep it in the family. Regularly seen in the 'Leeds Rhinos' stands with his long suffering wife June, (who incidentally runs our Kirkbymoorside shop), both his sons have worked or still work in the business.
When not in attendance at Wimbledon or the Commonwealth Games, Chris is quite the thespian, and he and June have been known to attend the Globe Theatre for a bit of Shakespearian entertainment and are also regular visitors to the London, Leeds and Hull theatrical venues.
