Thomas the Baker Mince Pies
You might only just be starting to think about Christmas, but at Thomas the Baker we’ve been thinking about it for months! In fact, when I worked in the bakery a couple of years ago, I was surprised to see that they were starting to prepare for the Christmas rush at the end of summer!
Now I always knew our mince pies were good, but it seems like lots of other people agree too – we’ve recently been named among the best mince pies in the country by Good Housekeeping, only just missing out on first place to Heston Blumenthal. Ours were awarded 73/100 and complimented on the delicious fruity filling, thin pastry and homemade appearance. We’re so pleased about this, particularly because ours came out above big names such as Bettys, Harrods, and Marks & Spencer. Not only do ours taste better, but they also come at a fraction of the price of other runner ups too – ours are £2.20 for a box of 6, whereas Harrods’ come in at a huge £9.50 for the same amount!
We’ve had many awards for our mince pies over the years, so many in fact that I’m not sure I can list them all here! Earlier this year we were awarded a Gold Star in the Great Taste Awards for our mince pie filling which was described as ‘virtually faultless food’! Between 1989 and 2005, the mince pies won 10 separate awards. Last year alone they came out top in Love Food Love Drink’s taste test and they were listed among MSN’s top mince pies. And that’s not even adding in all the mentions we’ve had in various magazines, newspapers and websites.
So as you can probably tell, our mince pies are pretty popular! They’re available in every store as well as online at Thomas the Baker for £2.20. Even the ones sold online are baked freshly just for the order every day, then cooled, packaged up and shipped off to you. They’re ideal for gifts for friends at Christmas or to keep in for carol singers! Even better, you can pop them in the oven for 6 or 7 minutes for a warm treat. They’re available for order up to the 20th December to arrive in time for Christmas. If you do order some, let us know what you think!
